Christmas Morning: Breakfast

We'll be staying with family this weekend, and I'm planning to make breakfast on Christmas morning. As a houseguest, it's a nice gesture to make a meal, but I also have dietary restrictions that make me the hardest to please. In addition to some gluten free gingerbread pancakes, some fruit salad, and a big pot of coffee, I plan to make a hearty breakfast casserole. Here's the recipe:

What You'll Need
10 slices white bread, crusts off, cubed (I use Udi's white bread and it works well)
6 eggs
3 cups whole milk
3/4 tsp dry mustard
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp onion salt
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup cooked ham, diced
1/4 cup onion, diced
1/4 cup green bell peppers, diced

Directions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs, milk, mustard, onion salt, garlic salt and pepper together. 
  2. Remove the bowl from the mixer and stir in the bread cubes, cheddar, ham, onion, and bell pepper. 
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 in baking dish and refrigerate overnight. 
  4. Bake at 325 degrees uncovered for 1 hour. The dish should be puffy and golden on top, not overly brown. 
Note: There is no way to screw this dish up, and you can sub the ham/onion/bell pepper for whatever fillings you prefer. Try it with bacon or broccoli & mushrooms!
