What You'll Need
10 slices white bread, crusts off, cubed (I use Udi's white bread and it works well)
3 cups whole milk
3/4 tsp dry mustard
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp onion salt
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup cooked ham, diced
1/4 cup onion, diced
1/4 cup green bell peppers, diced
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs, milk, mustard, onion salt, garlic salt and pepper together.
- Remove the bowl from the mixer and stir in the bread cubes, cheddar, ham, onion, and bell pepper.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 in baking dish and refrigerate overnight.
- Bake at 325 degrees uncovered for 1 hour. The dish should be puffy and golden on top, not overly brown.
Note: There is no way to screw this dish up, and you can sub the ham/onion/bell pepper for whatever fillings you prefer. Try it with bacon or broccoli & mushrooms!
