Stock Up: Pantry Essentials

A perfectly organized pantry, courtesy of the Container Store
If you've moved recently, you know that the first trip to the grocery store is usually a big one. It's important to restock your pantry thoughtfully so that you'll have exactly what you need when you're ready to whip up a quick dinner or satisfy your sweet tooth with a batch of homemade cookies.  Here are the essentials that I keep in my house:

  • Granulated Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Confectioner's sugar
  • Cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • Gluten Free All-Purpose Flour (I like the Cup 4 Cup brand)
  • Corn masa flour
  • Yellow cornmeal
  • Baking Soda
  • Baking Powder
  • Vanilla extract
  • Almond extract
  • Iodized salt
  • Kosher Salt
  • Black peppercorns
  • Dried parsley
  • Dried oregano
  • Smoked paprika
  • Cinnamon
  • Ground cumin
  • Chilli powder
  • Crushed red pepper flakes
  • 28 oz. cans diced tomatoes
  • Canned tomato paste
  • Chicken stock
  • Chocolate chips
  • Peanut butter chips
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sesame oil
  • Canola oil
  • Canned coconut milk
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Dried pasts (I like Tinkyada for GF noodles)
  • Old fashioned oats
  • Molasses
  • Pure maple syrup
  • Garlic
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Onion
  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • Lemons
  • Limes
  • Green apples
  • Milk
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Tamari soy sauce
  • Sriracha
  • BBQ sauce
  • Mayonnaise
  • Whole grain mustard
  • Apricot jam (or your favorite variety)
  • Chicken breasts- freeze them for more longevity
  • Mixed greens
I also like to have beer and wine on hand, but that's personal preference. Start with these basics and then add from there! Happy Re-Stocking...
